Baseball Recap: Chalmette Comes Up Short

Saturday just wasn't the day for Chalmette's offense. They fell just short of the Slidell Tigers by a score of 1-0 on Saturday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Tigers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 7-0 last Thursday.

Chalmette has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last eight games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 14-17 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Slidell, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-8 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Chalmette will take on rival Salmen on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Slidell is set to challenge their familiar foe Northshore at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Tigers are on a seven-game streak of home wins, the Panthers a six-game streak of away wins, meaning someone's leaving a streak behind.
