Basketball Recap: Newman Smith Takes a Loss

Newman Smith was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They took a blow against the Creekview Mustangs, falling 57-26. The Trojans lost against the Mustangs in their previous head to head back in February of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 53-49 score last time.

Newman Smith's defeat dropped their record down to 12-7. As for Creekview, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season.

Newman Smith wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 51-43 loss against Lone Star on the 14th. As for Creekview, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 53-37 defeat against Highland Park on the 14th.
