League recap: Montgomery overpowering for Escalon in past week

Trans Valley league recap: 5/22/13

Trans Valley's top pitcher this week was Escalon's Brent Montgomery. Over the past week, he had one win and six Ks.

The Cougars currently lead the league with a 19-9 record overall and an 11-1 mark during league play. Orestimba is 3 games back and in second place with an 8-4 league record.

Escalon continues to give up the least hits to opposing lineups this season, after surrendering only one in the past week. The Cougars have surrendered a mere 155 hits this season in 29 games.

The league boasted three .400 hitters over the past week. Leading the pack was Louis Estrada, who hit 1.000 by going 4-for-4.

Escalon's Montgomery led the league in strikeouts this week with six. He's second in the league with 88 total strikeouts.



Louis Estrada was an RBI machine on Thursday, as he knocked in four runs during the Cougars' 16-0 win over Calaveras. He went 4-for-4 and scored one run.

Montgomery threw a shutout as he led Escalon to victory over the Redskins, 16-0, on Thursday. He struck out six, allowing one hit.
