Soccer Game Preview: Northwest Guilford vs. Parkland + How To Watch

The Northwest Guilford Vikings will venture away from home to square off against the Parkland Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Northwest Guilford is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 3.1 goals per game this season.

Northwest Guilford barely beat East Forsyth the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Vikings were the clear victors by a 5-1 margin over the Eagles on Wednesday. The high-scoring effort was just what Northwest Guilford needed considering they were shut out in their previous matchup.

They hit East Forsyth with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Chris Long (3), Walter Burnham, and Sebastain Celis.

Meanwhile, Parkland was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They came up short against Reagan, falling 5-1. While losing is never fun, Parkland can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina soccer rankings (they are ranked 393rd, while Reagan are ranked 164th).

Northwest Guilford's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-6-2. The home wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up one goal over those three contests. As for Parkland, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-17-1.

Everything went Northwest Guilford's way against Parkland in their previous meeting on October 6th, as Northwest Guilford made off with a 9-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Vikings since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
