Basketball Game Preview: Deshler Dragons vs. Shelton Bulldogs

The Deshler Dragons will square off against the Shelton Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a four-game winning streak alive.

Deshler picked up another tournament win last Monday. They snuck past Tri County with a 55-50 victory.

Deshler relied on the efforts of Carson Sieber, who went 10 of 14 on his way to 22 points and eight rebounds, and Easton Nash, who went 5 of 10 en route to 16 points along with six boards and four steals. Nash's evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Brendan M Lemke, who posted seven points and five assists.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Shelton). They walked away with a 73-65 win over Gibbon on Tuesday.

Deshler is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.5 points per game. As for Shelton, their victory bumped their record up to 8-2.

Deshler suffered a grim 67-44 defeat to Shelton when the teams last played back in February of 2024. Thankfully for Deshler, Riley Bombeck (who dropped a double-double on 22 points and ten boards) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
