Basketball Game Preview: Mancelona Ironmen vs. St. Mary Cathedral Snowbirds

Mancelona and St. Mary Cathedral are an even 5-5 against one another since December of 2019, but not for long. The Mancelona Ironmen will head out on the road to face off against the St. Mary Cathedral Snowbirds at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.

Mancelona lost 77-54 to East Jordan on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, St. Mary Cathedral came tearing into Wednesday's matchup with seven straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 23.4 points) and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 63-50 win over the Eagles.

St. Mary Cathedral's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-2. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.3 points per game. As for Mancelona, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-7.

Mancelona opened the new year with a less-than-successful 53-42 loss to St. Mary Cathedral. Can Mancelona avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
