Volleyball Recap: Denver South's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Friday

It was a good run, but Denver South unfortunately witnessed the end of their nine-match winning streak on Friday. They fell just short of the Cheyenne Mountain Red-Tailed Hawks by a score of 3-2.

Margo Dresden paced Denver South's offense, picking up ten kills. Dresden were helped by Ava Lumly and Kelly Danford, who contributed 15 assists each. Danford was also solid from the service line: she led the team with three aces.

Leading Cheyenne Mountain to victory were Jera Rodriguez and Sophia Evans. Rodriguez had 12 digs and two aces, while Evans had 13 assists and seven digs. Those 12 digs gave Rodriguez a new career-high.

Denver South's loss dropped their record down to 15-6. As for Cheyenne Mountain, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-8 record this season.

Denver South didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 3-1 win against Bayfield on the 1st. As for Cheyenne Mountain, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 3-0 defeat against Cherry Creek on the 1st.
