Baseball Game Preview: Newport - Bellevue Knights vs. Woodinville Falcons

The Newport - Bellevue Knights will face off against the Woodinville Falcons at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.

Newport - Bellevue will bounce into Monday's match after beating Eastlake, who they had gone 0-9 against in their nine prior meetings. The Knights sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 victory over the Wolves on Wednesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Knights have posted since May 7, 2024.

Newport - Bellevue's victory was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Ethan Freytag, who scored a run while going 1-for-2. Yuma Noda also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Meanwhile, it was close, but on Friday Woodinville sidestepped Lake Washington for a 3-2 win.

Levi Grothen looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than one hit any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Woodinville let Braden Perry and Andrew Hennessy run wild. Perry went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI, while Hennessy went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI. That's the most hits Perry has posted since back in May of 2024.

Newport - Bellevue's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-8-1. As for Woodinville, the win got them back to even at 6-6.
