Baseball Game Preview: Edgewood Lions vs. Pomona Red Devils

The Edgewood Lions are taking a road trip to take on the Pomona Red Devils at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Edgewood's pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so Pomona's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Edgewood took a loss when they played away from home back in March, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed two weeks ago. They blew past Glendale 9-1. The result was nothing new for the Lions, who have now won five contests by eight runs or more so far this season.

Meanwhile, Pomona came up short against Southlands Christian on Tuesday, falling 11-5. The Red Devils have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Adrian Lopez was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three doubles, three RBI, and one stolen base.

Edgewood is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a massive bump to their 5-7 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Pomona, their loss dropped their record down to 3-7-1.

Edgewood skirted past Pomona 2-1 when the teams last played back in May of 2025. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Lions since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
