Hampton has relied on a stalwart defense averaging 27.69 points allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Saturday. They took a 55-48 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Highland Springs Springers. The Crabbers' defeat signaled the end of their 12-game winning streak.

Highland Springs found their leader in sophomore Jesiah Young, who posted 30 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Young has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Samara Faulk, who put up eight points.

Hampton's loss ended a 12-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 14-2. As for Highland Springs, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 9-3.

Hampton and Highland Springs should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Virginia Rankings. Hampton (ranked 26th) will meet Phoebus (ranked 336th) at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hampton is looking to tack on another W to their 12-game streak on the road dating back to last season. Meanwhile, Highland Springs will face off against Patrick Henry at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday up 241 places (54 vs. 295).
