Recap: Neumann-Goretti Saints vs. Cathedral Prep Ramblers
The Neumann-Goretti Saints put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They came out on top against Cathedral Prep by a score of 76-64. Given Neumann-Goretti's advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked first, while Cathedral Prep is ranked 223rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Neumann-Goretti had a senior duo take command as Khaafiq Myers scored 30 points along with nine rebounds and Larenzo Jerkins dropped a double-double on 23 points and 14 rebounds. The game was Jerkins' ninth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Torrey Brooks Jr., who scored 11 points.
Neumann-Goretti's victory bumped their record up to 9-0. As for Cathedral Prep, they have fallen quite a ways from their 24-4 record last season and are now at 3-7.
Neumann-Goretti won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Lincoln Park Performing Arts at 7:30 p.m. on January 6th. One thing working in Lincoln Park Performing Arts' favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season. Cathedral Prep won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Niagara Falls at 6:00 p.m. on January 6th. Niagara Falls is looking to tack on another W to their three-game streak on the road.
