Lyons and Brother Rice are an even 5-5 against one another since March of 2017, but likely not for long. The Lions will take on the Crusaders in a tournament on Thursday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a six-game winning streak alive.
Lyons gave up the first runs last Monday, but they didn't let that get them down. They walked away with a 6-1 win over Lincoln-Way Central.

On the hitting side, Lyons let Tommy Georgelos and Luke Nicholaus run wild. Georgelos scored two runs while going 2-for-3, while Nicholaus got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two RBI. Another player making a difference was Blake Ragsdale, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
Meanwhile, Brother Rice got the win against Fenwick on Wednesday by a conclusive 15-7. The Crusaders might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five games by six runs or more this season.
Danny Sheehan looked comfortable as he pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Gavin Triezenberg was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI. Brady Cunningham was another key player, scoring three runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.
Brother Rice kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits in four consecutive contests.
Lyons' victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-1. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games. As for Brother Rice, their victory bumped their record up to 7-1.
Brother Rice's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Thursday. Lyons has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.6 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Brother Rice, though, as they've been averaging only 3.8 strikeouts. Will Lyons keep running through batters, or will the Crusaders buck the trend?
