Softball Recap: Thursday's Victory Is Eastmark's Third in Last Four Outings

After having lost a blowout in their previous game, Eastmark was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Crismon Rattlers a 5-0 shutout. This was a revenge game for the Firebirds: when they faced off against the Rattlers last Tuesday, they had to take a 17-6 defeat.

Andrea Fletcher made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out nine over seven innings pitched. Those nine strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Madison Petersen, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That's the most runs she has posted since back in February.

Eastmark hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Crismon struck out ten times.

Eastmark is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-6 record this season. Crismon's loss dropped their record down to 9-4.

Eastmark and Crismon should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Arizona Rankings. Eastmark (ranked 60th) will meet Desert Sunrise (ranked 217th) at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The timing is sure in Eastmark's favor as the team sits on four straight wins at home while Desert Sunrise has been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road. Meanwhile, Crismon will square off against Combs at 3:45 p.m. on Monday up 151 places (41 vs. 192).
