Baseball Recap: Key West Takes a Loss

Key West fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Sports Leadership & Management on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Spartans by a score of 6-5. The Conchs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Jon Carlos Lampas-Gormley was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up five earned runs off ten hits. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Caden Pichardo made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Nelson Ong was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-5.

Key West's defeat dropped their record down to 11-8. As for Sports Leadership & Management, they pushed their record up to 5-11 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Key West beat Sports Leadership & Management by a score of 17-7 on Saturday.
