Baseball Recap: Taos Victorious

Taos proved they can win big last Wednesday (they won by seven) and on Wednesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They won by a run and slipped past the Pojoaque Valley Elks/Elkettes 12-11. The Tigers haven't had any issues with the Elks/Elkettes recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Taos got a massive performance out of Miguel Garcia, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3. The dominant performance also gave Garcia a new career-high in RBI (three). Another player making a difference was Jeremiah Gonzales, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.

Taos always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .581. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The victory was their first at home , bumping their record up to 8-6. As for Pojoaque Valley, they have been struggling recently as they've lost ten of their last 13 matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-13 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Taos will host Moriarty at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Pintos have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.15 runs per game on average), something the Tigers will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Pojoaque Valley, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Los Alamos at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Elks/Elkettes will need to watch out since the Hilltoppers have now posted at least ten runs in their last five contests.
