Basketball Recap: Kingman Comes Up Short

Kingman was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their ninth straight loss. They were dealt a 74-43 defeat at the hands of the Highland Prep Honey Badgers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bulldogs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 61-34 back in January.

Despite the loss, Kingman saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Aiden Vellos went 8 for 16 to rack up 21 points and three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Vellos has scored all season. Codey Padilla was another key player, putting up seven points and six boards.

It was another big night for Aeden Calini, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 22 rebounds for Highland Prep. Those 23 points gave Calini a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Paxton Clarke, who posted 14 points and five boards.

Kingman's defeat dropped their record down to 4-20. As for Highland Prep, they pushed their record up to 17-7 with the victory, which was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season.

Kingman does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Highland Prep, they have already played their next game, a 68-53 loss against Parker on the 6th.
