South Jones fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Florence on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Eagles by a score of 6-5. The Braves' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

South Jones' loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 10-6. As for Florence, their win ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-6.

Looking ahead, South Jones will challenge Brookhaven at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Braves' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Panthers have averaged an impressive 9 runs per game this season. As for Florence, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Wesson at 6:30 p.m.
