Baseball Recap: Fletcher Wins Going Away Against Tipton

It was a proper cat-fight when Fletcher took on Tipton on Thursday. Fletcher was the clear victor by a 12-0 margin over Tipton. The result was nothing new for the Wildcats, who have now won seven games by eight runs or more so far this season.

The team relied heavily on Elijah Cagle, who scored three runs and stole three bases while going 1-for-2. He is becoming a predictor of Fletcher's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 4-7 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Rayce Stoll, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-2.

Fletcher is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-7 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. Tipton's defeat dropped their record down to 1-6.

Fletcher wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, a 9-5 loss against Velma-Alma on the 28th. As for Tipton, they will be playing at home against Geronimo at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
