Basketball Game Preview: Mayfield Trojans vs. Roswell Coyotes

Mayfield hasn't had much luck against Roswell recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Mayfield Trojans will be taking part in a tournament against the Roswell Coyotes at 7:30 p.m.

Last Friday, Mayfield was beaten by Hobbs 79-48. While losing is never fun, the Trojans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New Mexico basketball rankings (they are ranked 39th, while the Eagles are ranked first).

Meanwhile, in a tight matchup that could have gone either way, Roswell made off with a 69-68 win over Melrose.

Mayfield's loss dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Roswell, their victory bumped their record up to 6-2.

Mayfield couldn't quite finish off Roswell in their previous matchup back in January and fell 68-66. Can Mayfield avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
