Softball Recap: Fairbanks Has No Trouble Against Marshall

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Mundelein, Fairbanks was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Marshall Cardinals with a sharp 8-2 win.

Macy Kise spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on five hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk any time she's pitched this season.

At the plate, Jenna Dee was a standout: she went 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one home run the last four times she's played. Another player making a difference was Claire Meihls, who scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-4.

Fairbanks was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .483. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Marshall only posted a batting average of .174.

Fairbanks now has a winning record of 2-1.

Looking ahead, a feisty cat fight will be fought as Fairbanks Panthers take on West Liberty-Salem Tigers at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. This will be Fairbanks' first chance to prove their worth in the conference. As for Marshall, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Johnson Creek at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
