Football Recap: Mitchell Mustangs vs. Lennard Longhorns
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Mitchell had no problem doing just that on Friday. They blew past the Lennard Longhorns 40-9. The result was nothing new for the Mustangs, who have now won five contests by 25 points or more so far this season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Mitchell to victory, but perhaps none more so than Cayden Thomas, who rushed for 39 yards and two scores, and also threw for 44 yards and one TD. Daren Long also helped out as he racked up 101 rushing yards.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Mitchell was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 285 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in November of 2024.

The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 11.5 points on average over those games. As for Lennard, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-3 record this season.
Mitchell will face off against Palmetto at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Mustangs will need to watch out since the Tigers have now posted at least 31 points in their last six matchups. Lennard does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
