Volleyball Recap: Nemaha Central Gets the Win

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Nemaha Central and St. Marys meet (four straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Tuesday. The Thunder came out on top against the Bears by a score of 2-0. That's the third time they've managed to beat them this season, with their most recent win being a 2-0 victory last Saturday.

The 2-0 score doesn't show just how dominant Nemaha Central was: they took both sets by at least ten points. The final score came out to 25-4, 25-15.

Their offense was headlined by Ali Henry and Macy Holthaus, who picked up five kills apiece. They got some help from Kennedy Carlson and her nine assists. Emma Hermesch controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.

Nemaha Central's victory bumped their record up to 18-15. As for St. Marys, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-33-1.

Coming up, after both having extra time off, Nemaha Central and Silver Lake will shake off the rust and duke it out at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. St. Marys does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
