Boston College High is 2-8 against Xaverian Brothers since May of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. Boston College High barely beat Lincoln-Sudbury the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Eagles blew past the Warriors 11-2 on Saturday. With that victory, the Eagles brought their scoring average up to 7 runs per game.
Boston College High got several good pitching performances, but Matt Reardon was perhaps the best, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Reardon has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season.
On the hitting side, Liam Wagner was excellent, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run and two RBI. Wyatt Miller also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.
Meanwhile, Xaverian Brothers won against Norwood on Thursday with 13 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Friday. The Hawks put the hurt on Holliston with a sharp 13-2 win. The Hawks haven't had any issues with the Panthers recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.
Paul McCarthy looked comfortable as he pitched four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits.
At the plate, Jack Coen was a standout: he scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2. Charlie Gallagher was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-2.
Xaverian Brothers always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. The last time their OBP was this high was was before the start of last season.
The win made it two in a row for Boston College High and bumps their season record up to 2-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 2 run in those games. As for Xaverian Brothers, they pushed their record up to 2-0 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season.
Boston College High came out on top in a nail-biter against Xaverian Brothers in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, sneaking past 3-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
