Spencerville is 0-10 against Bluffton since September of 2015 but things could change on Thursday. The Bearcats will be playing at home against the Pirates at 7:00 p.m.
On Tuesday, Spencerville came up short against Allen East and fell 3-1. While the Bearcats didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Mustangs 25-21 in the first set.
Spencerville started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The final score came out to 21-25, 25-20, 25-15, 25-20.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Bluffton, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. They won by a set and slipped past Lincolnview 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Pirates have posted since September 8th.
Bluffton was staring down a 2-1 deficit headed into the fourth set, but they rallied to take the next two for the win. The match finished with set scores of 19-25, 25-17, 20-25, 25-21, 15-10.
Spencerville better focus on containing Vanessa Cross and Adelyn Althaus as the pair were huge in Bluffton's win. Cross had 15 digs and three aces, while Althaus had 17 assists and six digs. The dominant performance also gave Cross a new career-high in assists (seven).
Spencerville's loss dropped their record down to 8-13. As for Bluffton, their win bumped their record up to 13-7.
