Softball Recap: Branford Now 9-1 over Last Ten Games

Branford proved they can win big last Monday (they won by 11) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-5 victory over the Trenton Tigers. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 9-6 last Saturday.

Cloey Criggall was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing four bases while going 2-for-3. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since March 3rd. Another player making a difference was Jesse Frierson, who scored two runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

Criggall wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Branford kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in four consecutive matchups.

Branford has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten games. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.6 runs over those games. Trenton's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 7-3.

Branford and Trenton should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings. Branford will square off against Dixie County at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday up 350 places (43 vs. 393). Meanwhile, Trenton (ranked 68th) will meet Taylor County (ranked 395th) at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
