Basketball Recap: Mason Mobley and Nykavian Bradley Secure Win for Marianna

It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Marianna ultimately got the result they hoped for on Monday. They came out on top against the Malone Tigers by a score of 74-66. Given the Bulldogs' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 90th, while the Tigers are ranked 363rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Leading Marianna to victory were Nykavian Bradley and Mason Mobley. Bradley dropped a double-double on 26 points and ten rebounds, while Mobley went 9 for 15 on his way to 26 points. Mobley's evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Bowen Barber was another key player, putting up seven points.

Despite the loss, Malone still got an impressive performance from Jackson Welch, who posted 28 points and five boards. Welch is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Hoke Harkrider, who had ten points and seven rebounds.

Marianna pushed their record up to 17-3 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Malone, with the defeat, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 14-7.

Marianna wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 61-49 victory against Crossroad Academy on the 29th. Malone has also already played their next game, a 45-40 win against Altha on the 29th.
