Basketball Game Preview: Green Canyon Wolves vs. West Field Longhorns

The Green Canyon Wolves will head out on the road to take on the West Field Longhorns at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Green Canyon's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last eight matchups.

Green Canyon is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Utah's top teams: Ridgeline, who was ranked 24th at the time (Green Canyon was ranked 11th). Green Canyon blew past Ridgeline 76-54 on Friday. The Wolves have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven contests by 21 points or more this season.

It was another big night for Easton Stokes, who went 9 for 14 en route to 22 points in addition to seven assists and seven rebounds. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Gavin Crane, who went 6 of 12 on his way to 13 points and four steals.

Stokes wasn't the only one working in the assists department: Green Canyon was working as a unit and finished the game with 20 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Ridgeline only racked up nine assists.

Meanwhile, West Field ended up a good deal behind Logan on Wednesday and lost 70-53.

Green Canyon pushed their record up to 21-1 with the win, which was their 17th straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.6 points per game. As for West Field, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-12.

Everything came up roses for Green Canyon against West Field in their previous meeting back in January, as the team secured a 76-45 victory. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was West Field's Jaxon Slaugh, who went 7 for 10 en route to 20 points. Now that he's got a second chance to win this matchup, will Green Canyon still be able to contain Slaugh? There's only one way to find out.
