Baseball Recap: Donoho Comes Up Short

Donoho extended their losing streak to 12 on Friday, dropping them down to 1-15. They lost 19-3 to the Jacksonville Golden Eagles. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Falcons of the 4-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in March of 2024.

As for Jacksonville, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 14-15. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

For Jacksonville's part, Matt Salmon and Nick Johnson did most of the damage at the plate: Salmon went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, six RBI, and two runs, while Johnson went 4-for-5 with five runs, four RBI, and one double. Those four hits gave Johnson a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Marquel Wood, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs, one double, and one RBI.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Donoho will head out to take on Victory Christian at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Falcons' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Lions have averaged an impressive 6.8 runs per game this season. As for Jacksonville, they will venture away from home to square off against St. Clair County at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
