Addyson Faucette spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered six earned runs on nine hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Oxford Prep saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Hailey Crowder, who went 1-for-3 with one double.
Meanwhile, Vance Charter waltzed into their contest on Wednesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They were the clear victors by a 15-3 margin over Northern Durham. Considering Vance Charter has won six games by more than six runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Aubrey Puryear was incredible, firing off two home runs, six RBI, and four runs while going 3-for-5. Another player making a difference was Katelin Guerrant, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run.
Vance Charter kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 19 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in March of 2024.
Vance Charter pushed their record up to 8-3 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Oxford Prep, their loss dropped their record down to 10-3.
Friday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Oxford Prep hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .339. However, it's not like Vance Charter struggles in that department as they've averaged .373. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
