 Pueblo South and Pueblo Central are an even 5-5 against one another  since February of 2019, but  not for long. The Pueblo South Colts will head out on the road to  face off against  the Pueblo Central Wildcats at 7:30  p.m.  on Thursday. One thing working in Pueblo South's favor is that they have posted big  point totals  in their last four matchups.
 Even though Pueblo West scored an imposing 76 points on Monday, Pueblo South still came out on top. Pueblo South managed a  80-76 win over Pueblo West.
  Maurice Austin was  his usual excellent self,  scoring 41 points along with seven  rebounds and five  assists. Austin is crushing the point category: he's  posted at least 15 every time he's  taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of  Caeden Herrera, who  scored seven points along with eight  rebounds and five  assists.
 Meanwhile,  everything came up roses for Pueblo Central on the road  against Pueblo Centennial on Monday as the  squad secured a  76-48 win. Given Pueblo Central's advantage  in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings  (they are ranked 85th, while Pueblo Centennial is ranked 226th), the result  wasn't entirely unexpected.
 Pueblo Central's win  was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from   Zach Mehess, who  scored ten points along with eight  rebounds and five  assists. It was the first time this season that  Mehess  pulled down eight or more  rebounds. Another player making a difference was  Xavier Davis, who  scored 13 points along with seven  rebounds and four  blocks.
 Pueblo South has  been performing  incredibly well recently as they've  won six of their last seven games,  which provided a nice bump to their 13-9 record  this season. As for Pueblo Central, their victory bumped their record up to 14-8.
This contest  is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor:  Pueblo South  have been smashing the glass this season,  having  averaged 25.2  rebounds per game. However, it's not like Pueblo Central struggles in that department as   they've been averaging 38.9  rebounds per game.
