Volleyball Recap: Porter-Gaud's Run of Nine Straight Wins Now Over

After a string of nine wins, Porter-Gaud's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They fell 2-0 to the Wando Warriors. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Warriors this season, with their most recent defeat being a 2-0 loss back in September.

The final score came out to 25-15, 25-16.

Allie Abernathy paced Porter-Gaud's offense, picking up 11 kills. Abernathy got some help from Harriett Matenaer and her 16 assists. Laney Barganier controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.

Porter-Gaud's loss dropped their record down to 19-13. As for Wando, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 26-8 record this season.

Porter-Gaud wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 2-0 win against Hilton Head Island on the 10th. As for Wando, they have also already played their next match, a 2-0 victory against Musselman on the 10th.
