Basketball Recap: Danica Krieg's Big Game Can't Quite Lead South Rowan over Central Davidson

South Rowan came up into this matchup off a tough 38-point defeat last Friday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of the Central Davidson Spartans by a score of 43-40 on Thursday. The loss continues a trend for the Raiders in their matchups with the Spartans: they've now lost four in a row.

Several Raiders players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Danica Krieg, who went 6 of 7 en route to 15 points and seven rebounds. Krieg is trending in the right direction considering she's improved her point production for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Ella Morgan, who posted 16 points.

Central Davidson was led to victory by Raegan McCarn and Lauren Chesney. McCarn put up 11 points in addition to six assists and six boards, while Chesney had seven points and six steals. That's the most assists McCarn has posted since back in December of 2023. The team also got some help courtesy of Bella Forrest, who posted six points and three steals.

South Rowan's defeat dropped their record down to 3-7. As for Central Davidson, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 5-5 record this season.

South Rowan wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 62-22 victory against West Rowan on the 27th. As for Central Davidson, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 48-34 loss against East Rowan on the 27th.
