Basketball Recap: Tracy Piles Up the Points Against Deer Valley

While Tracy didn't have the best season last year (they finished 7-20), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They breezed by the Deer Valley Wolverines to the tune of 77-37 on Tuesday. The Bulldogs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five games by 20 points or more this season.

Tracy was led to victory by Maximillian Russell and Michael McDonald. Russell went 9 of 15 en route to 20 points, while McDonald went 6 for 8 on his way to 14 points and six rebounds. The contest was Russell's seventh in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Lars Lindroos, who posted eight points and five steals.

Tracy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in six consecutive matches.

When it comes to explaining why Deer Valley lost, don't look at Carter Williams. Despite the final result, he put up 18 points and seven rebounds.

Tracy's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-1. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.0 points per game. As for Deer Valley, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-8.

Tracy didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 57-45 victory against Freedom on the 12th. As for Deer Valley, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 57-47 win against Mt. Diablo on the 19th.
