Softball Recap: Hayward Finds Home Field Redemption Against Tennyson

There's no place like home for Hayward, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Wednesday. Everything went their way against the Tennyson Lancers on Friday as Hayward made off with a 14-5 win. The Farmers' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Riley Norman made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out 12 batters over five innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. Norman was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

In other batting news, Eliana Sega was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Charlotte May, who scored three runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

Hayward always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .676. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Tennyson only posted an OBP of .400.

Hayward's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-3. As for Tennyson, their defeat was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-3.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hayward will host Piedmont at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Tennyson, they will challenge Valley Christian at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
