For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Valley and Hagerman meet (three straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Friday. The Vikings took a blow against the Pirates, falling 72-32. The Vikings lost against the Pirates in their previous head to head back in November of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 56-52 score last time.

Despite the loss, Valley still got an impressive performance from Thomas Vargas, who rushed for 212 yards and three TDs while picking up 10.6 yards per carry, and also picked up 43 receiving yards and one score. Vargas' rushing production has been exceptional as that marked his fifth straight game with at least 105 rushing yards dating back to last season. Brandt Jones was another key player, rushing for 45 yards and one touchdown.

Wyatt Mavencamp had another great game (as he tends to do), throwing for 388 yards and nine TDs while picking up 15.5 yards per attempt, and also rushing for 135 yards and one score on only ten carries for Hagerman. Those nine passing touchdowns gave Mavencamp a new career-high. 97 of Mavencamp's passing yards were hauled in by Casen Knight, who also brought in two receiving touchdowns.

Valley now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Hagerman, the win got them back to even at 2-2.

Coincidentally, Valley and Hagerman will both be playing Oakley the next time they take the field. The Vikings will head out to face the Hornets at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, while the Pirates will host them at 7:00 p.m. on the 26th.
