Preview: Cumberland Dukes vs. Louisa County Lions
The Cumberland Dukes will finish 2023 at home by hosting the Louisa County Lions at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Last Saturday, Cumberland ended up a good deal behind Buckingham and lost 59-42. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Cumberland in their matchups with Buckingham: they've now lost nine in a row.
Meanwhile, Louisa County's recent rough patch got a bit rougher two weeks ago after their third straight loss. They were beaten by Charlottesville 71-34. While losing is never fun, Louisa County can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 310th, while Charlottesville is ranked 28th).
Cumberland now has a losing record at 2-3. As for Louisa County, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-5 record this season.
