Basketball Recap: Celina Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

Celina and Elida squared off in some playoff action on Wednesday, but Celina had to settle for second. They were beaten by Elida 64-28. While losing is never fun, Celina can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 361st, while Elida is ranked 180th).

Lilly Sifrit continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Elida, going 11-for-20 en route to 26 points along with six boards and five steals. That's the most points Sifrit has posted since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Emma Mitchell, who dropped a double-double with 12 points and 16 rebounds.

Celina's defeat dropped their record down to 11-13. As for Elida, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 15-9.

Celina does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Elida, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 60-57 win against Lima Senior on the 22nd.
