Baseball Recap: Bellarmine College Prep Takes a Loss

Bellarmine College Prep was the 6-4 winner over Archbishop Mitty when they last played one another on Tuesday, but their luck changed this time around. The Bells fell 5-2 to the Monarchs on Friday.

Bellarmine College Prep got a good showing from Preston Pera, who tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the first time Pera hasn't allowed a single hit since back in April.

On the hitting side, Nate Bateman was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run. Another player making a difference was DJ Dunne, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double.

Bellarmine College Prep dropped their record down to 13-13 with the loss, which was their fourth straight on the road. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the defeats came by an average of only 1.75 runs. As for Archbishop Mitty, they moved to 12-14 with that win, which also ended their four-game losing streak.
