Preview: Van Wert Cougars vs. Memorial Roughriders
Van Wert has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will face off against the Memorial Roughriders at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Van Wert focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Tuesday.
Last Tuesday, Van Wert beat Paulding 57-47.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Van Wert to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kendra Deehring, who scored 18 points along with four steals. jordanne blythe was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on ten points and 12 rebounds.
Memorial suffered their biggest defeat since November 30, 2023 on Thursday. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 49-27 walloping at the hands of Ottawa-Glandorf. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss Memorial has suffered against Ottawa-Glandorf since December 14, 2017.
Van Wert's win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-10. As for Memorial, they bumped their record down to 6-6 with that defeat, which was their third straight on the road.
Van Wert came up short against Memorial in their previous meeting back in February of 2023, falling 37-31. Can Van Wert avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
