Football Recap: Gab Richards' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Golden Valley over Pitman + How To Watch

Golden Valley extended their losing streak to four on Friday, dropping them down to 0-4. They fell 28-19 to the Pitman Pride. The Cougars were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Pride apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in September of 2024.

Golden Valley's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Gab Richards, who rushed for 59 yards and one touchdown on only five carries, and also threw for 88 yards and one TD.

Even if they lost, Golden Valley's defense still kept up the pressure with four sacks. That dominant display was truly a team effort as four different players picked up one apiece. Another thorn in Pitman's side was Adrian Hermoso, who picked up a sack and made 14 total tackles.

As for Pitman, their record now sits at 3-1. The game marked their most dominant win of the season so far.

Mason Helwick continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 81 yards and four scores, while also picking up 56 receiving yards. Helwick is crushing it when it comes to rushing touchdowns: he's punched in at least two every time he's taken the field this season.

Golden Valley didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 41-19 defeat against Kimball on the 19th. As for Pitman, they have also already played their next contest, a 29-26 loss against Atwater on the 19th.
