Basketball Game Preview: Apollo Eagles vs. Willmar Cardinals

The Apollo Eagles are taking a road trip to square off against the Willmar Cardinals at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Apollo's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last five contests.

Apollo will bounce into Tuesday's match after beating St. Cloud Tech, who they had gone 1-8 against in their nine prior meetings. Apollo enjoyed a cozy 77-59 win over St. Cloud Tech on Thursday.

Meanwhile, Willmar scored the most points they've had this season on Friday, but it wasn't enough. They took an 84-79 hit to the loss column at the hands of Detroit Lakes. The loss continues a trend for the Cardinals in their matchups with the Lakers: they've now lost three in a row.

Apollo now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Willmar, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-7.

Apollo beat Willmar 79-70 in their previous meeting back in February of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Apollo since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
