Recap: Rio Vista Eagles vs. Itasca Wampus Cats
The Rio Vista Eagles were the 34-14 winner over the Itasca Wampus Cats when they last played one another back in October of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. Rio Vista was outmatched by Itasca at home and fell 47-20. Rio Vista has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
When it comes to explaining why Rio Vista lost on Friday, one person who can't be blamed is Ashton Huey. Despite the final result, he picked up 125 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Itasca was led to victory by Justin Ludwig and Buddy Jackson. Ludwig picked up 150 receiving yards and three touchdowns, while Jackson threw for 288 yards and five touchdowns while completing 72.2% of his passes. Ludwig was no stranger to the big play, connecting with a big catch that went for 61 yards.
Rio Vista has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-7 record this season. As for Itasca, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-3.
Rio Vista will be playing at home against Cayuga at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Itasca, they will head out on the road to face off against Axtell at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Axtell is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
