Game recap: Grace Community High School Football Team takes down Bishop Gorman

TYLER, Texas - Grace Community (Tyler, Texas) pulled away early with 28 points in the first quarter to open up a 28-point lead, paving the way to a 61-0 victory over Bishop Gorman (Tyler, Texas) on Saturday.

After taking the lead on a Garrett Newman touchdown run in the first quarter, the Cougars led 48-0 at the half.

Grace Community expanded its lead to 55 points entering the fourth quarter. GC's lone score in the quarter came on a touchdown run by Johnny Spitzer.

Kade Clayton played well for the Cougars in the victory. The junior wide receiver ran for three touchdowns. He has now scored 21 touchdowns on the season.

Coming into the game Grace Community had allowed 21.2 points per game this year. GC held firm on the defensive front, and kept the Crusaders well below the 22.7 points it had been averaging per game.



Last season's game between the teams resulted in a 60-6 win for the Cougars.

With the win Grace Community extended its winning streak to three games.

Bishop Gorman (1-6) will play a TAPPS Division II District 2 game against Trinity Christian next week, while Grace Community (6-1) will take on Prince of Peace also in a TAPPS Division II District 2 game.
