Baseball Recap: Manistee Takes a Loss

Manistee and Hesperia squared off in some playoff action on Tuesday, but Manistee had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Panthers by a score of 4-3. The Mariners were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Panthers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2023.

Mason Robinson made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs. He has become a key player for Manistee: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 7-14 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Landin Sowa, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Manistee dropped their record down to 10-15 with the defeat, which was their third straight at home. As for Hesperia, with the win, they broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 7-18.

Manistee has already played their next game (against St. Francis), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Hesperia, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next match, a 4-3 loss against Chippewa Hills on the 29th.
