Baseball Game Preview: Mount View Golden Knights vs. Van Bulldogs

The Mount View Golden Knights will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on the Van Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Van took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Mount View, who comes in off a win.

Mount View is coming home in high spirits after they had to open their season on the road against Montcalm. Mount View blew past Montcalm 24-1 on Thursday.

Kyrece Hughes made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.

In other batting news, Jackson Rose was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with five RBI, two runs, and one triple. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Jacob Clemins, who scored two runs and stole three bases while going 3-for-4.

Meanwhile, Van was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 16th straight loss dating back to last season. They lost 18-3 to St. Joseph Central.

Van saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Easton Moore, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and one run. That triple was Moore's first of the season.
