The Nokomis Warriors will face off against the Hermon Hawks at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Nokomis is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.8 runs per game this season.
Nokomis lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Belfast, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Wednesday's matchup. The Warriors blew past the Lions 11-2 on Wednesday. The victory was nothing new for the Warriors as they're now sitting on three straight.
Seth Bowden made a splash while hitting and pitching. He tossed seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. Bowden was even better at the plate, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Owen Menard was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024. Tom Nyce was another key player, going 2-for-5 with two runs and one RBI.
Nokomis kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in four consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Hermon's good fortune finally ran out on Monday. They fell just short of Brewer by a score of 2-1.
Nokomis' win was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 4-4. As for Hermon, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-4.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Nokomis has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.1 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Hermon struggles in that department as they've been averaging 4.5 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
