Basketball Recap: Waterford Takes a Loss

Waterford played a tough contest on Thursday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They took a blow against the American Heritage Patriots, falling 56-25. The Ravens have struggled against the Patriots recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.

Despite the loss, Waterford had strong showings from Anne Howard, who almost dropped a double-double on 13 points and nine boards, and Raneem Alsolaiman, who posted five points and ten rebounds. Those ten boards gave Alsolaiman a new career-high.

Even though they lost, Waterford smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive rebounds in four consecutive games.

Waterford's defeat dropped their record down to 5-4. As for American Heritage, they pushed their record up to 7-5 with the victory, which was their third straight at home.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. It'll be a Battle of the Birds when the Waterford Ravens duke it out with the American Leadership Academy Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. American Leadership Academy's defense has only allowed 29.7 points per game this season, so Waterford's offense will have their work cut out for them. As for American Heritage, they will face off against St. Joseph at 7:00 p.m. on January 23rd.
