Recap: Pensacola Catholic Crusaders vs. Walton Braves
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Pensacola Catholic Crusaders had no problem doing just that on Friday. They took their game on the road with ease, bagging a 42-15 victory over the Braves. Considering Pensacola Catholic has won seven matchups by more than 20 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Pensacola Catholic to victory, but perhaps none more so than Nigel Nelson, who rushed for 148 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 7.8 yards per carry. The team also got some help courtesy of Charles Nettles, who rushed for 187 yards and a touchdown while picking up 11.7 yards per carry.
Although Walton took the loss, they still got scores from Jaquavius Anderson and Corniulis Mckenzie.
The win was the fifth in a row for Pensacola Catholic, bringing their record for this year to 10-2. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 43.6 points per game. As for Walton, their loss ended a eight-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 11-1.
Pensacola Catholic will head out on the road to face off against Florida State University High School at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Florida State University High School is coming into the game hot, having won their last six games. Walton does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
