Softball Game Preview: Tupelo Golden Wave vs. Pontotoc Warriors

The Tupelo Golden Wave will take on the Pontotoc Warriors at 11:00 a.m. on Friday. Tupelo has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the match with three straight defeats, while Pontotoc will come in with four straight victories.

Tupelo lost 14-2 to North Pontotoc on Thursday.

Meanwhile, Pontotoc posted their closest win since April 4, 2024 on Tuesday. They won by a run and slipped past Nettleton 11-10. Pontotoc's victory was all the more impressive since the Tigers were averaging only 1.97 runs allowed on the season.

The team relied heavily on Kelsy Spears, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That home run was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Emarie Boddie, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Tupelo's loss dropped their record down to 8-11. As for Pontotoc, their win bumped their record up to 15-10.
