Trinity Classical Academy is 0-10 against Vasquez since April of 2019 but things could change on Thursday. The Knights will head out on the road to square off against the Mustangs at 3:15 p.m.
Santa Clarita Christian hit Trinity Classical Academy with a four-run first inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Knights lost 10-0 to the Cardinals.
Meanwhile, Vasquez came tearing into Tuesday's contest with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11.8 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They were the clear victors by a 12-5 margin over the Contenders. The Mustangs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matchups by seven runs or more this season.
Madisyn Wharton made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off five hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with three RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in May of 2025.
In other batting news, Daniella Escamilla was incredible, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with four runs, two stolen bases, and one double. That's the most runs she has posted since back in May of 2025. Another player making a difference was Faith Nasrallah, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.
Vasquez always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .538. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .538 or higher in three consecutive games.
Vasquez's record is now 11-7. As for Trinity Classical Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-10.
Thursday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Trinity Classical Academy has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .435. However, it's not like Vasquez struggles in that department as they've averaged .532. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Trinity Classical Academy might still be hurting after the 16-4 loss they got from Vasquez in their previous meeting on Friday. Can the Knights avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
